The Swiss Way of (Not) Regulating Artificial intelligence

On 12 February 2025, the Swiss government decided how Switzerland would proceed regarding law and governance of artificial intelligence (AI) . Essentially, Switzerland strives to ratify the Council of Europe Framework Convention on AI, while adapting its existing legislation to account for AI. Switzerland will not transpose the EU’s AI Regulation to Swiss law nor aim at concluding an additional agreement with the European Union on the AI Regulation.
