With AI technology advancing, AI systems undoubtedly hold great potential inter alia in terms of taking over tasks that normally require human effort and interpretation. In the legal profession, where large amounts of data have to be reviewed, AI systems may ease and speed up processes. Unsurprisingly, legal tech is experiencing unprecedented growth. Circumstances where the flaws of AI have been exposed, raised media attention, eg when two US lawyers were fined $5,000 for referring to made-up case law generated by Open AI’s ChatGPT in a legal brief. Also as regards the use of ChatGPT in court, some incidents attracted increased public attention.
