Program

9:30 a.m.

Opening conference by chairman of the day

9:35 a.m.

Albert Bomer & Roderick Lucas

This session bridges the gap between technology and taxation. Practical, recognizable examples are used to explain how AI works, in a way that is understandable even for non-technicians. This will quickly show what is already possible today, what we can expect in the near future and where the limits of AI lie.

This knowledge is then translated into concrete tax cases and daily practice examples. This will give you a clear picture of how AI can support tax practice, where the opportunities are and what pitfalls to avoid.

Workshops

Create your own day by choosing 3 workshops from the offerings below.

  • Practical AI tools for everyday use in taxation

AI is no longer future music: more and more tax professionals are discovering how smart tools make their work faster, clearer and more efficient. In this workshop we will show you how to use AI in your daily practice - without technical prior knowledge and with a focus on immediate results.

Participants learn which possibilities are already available, what to look out for in responsible use and how to integrate AI step by step into your work processes. The goal is practical and concrete: you will go home with insights and skills that you can immediately apply in your own practice the next day.

This workshop will be conducted by:

    Thierry Boonstra - Forvis Mazars

  • The most important skill for working with AI tools is prompting. During this workshop you will learn the art of legal prompting, namely specifically drafting prompts, so that as a criminal justice professional you can use language models so effectively in your daily work.

This workshop will cover, among other things, how to build a prompt, how elaborate you make a prompt and what you want to avoid at all costs.

You will get tips on how to use AI for writing emails, texts and blogs.

Participants will go home with a prompt book, a list of killer prompts that can be used by lawyers in everyday practice.

This workshop will be conducted by:

Joyce Boonstra - The Innovative Lawyer

  • This interactive workshop will introduce you to the capabilities of Custom GPTs and how you can use them practically in your own work. We start with a brief introduction to terminology: what is the difference between ChatGPT, Custom GPTs and Assistants via APIs, and what prompting techniques can you use to achieve better results?

Then the trainer shows how to build a Custom GPT step by step with OpenAI and gives inspiring examples of his own applications, including in workflows that save time and increase quality.

Then you get to work on your own. In small groups, you come up with your own idea for a Custom GPT and work together to create a suitable prompt. One of the group ideas will be turned into a working GPT right on the spot, so everyone can see how the process works in practice.

Because not every participant has a paid account, the trainer ensures that all remaining group prompts are converted and shared afterwards. So you walk away with concrete examples and tools to continue experimenting yourself.

This workshop will be conducted by:

Jan Bart Schober, Tax consultant & tech enthusiast

  • AI-based legal research tools for tax professionals

Doing legal-tax research is often time-consuming: from sifting through laws and regulations to analyzing case law. AI can make this process faster and more manageable. Meanwhile, there are several AI-based legal research tools available - but which one do you choose?

In this workshop we put several of these tools side by side. Using concrete examples, we will show where they can already be used today within taxation. We show how the systems work and discuss both their advantages and limitations, so that participants get a fair and complete picture of the possibilities of AI in legal-tax research.

This workshop will be conducted by:

    Thierry Boonstra - Forvis Mazars

  • Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, decide and add value. For tax professionals, this presents both opportunities and challenges: routine work is being automated, while strategic insight, creativity and customer focus are becoming more important than ever.

In this workshop, we will explore how AI is impacting tax practice, what skills you need to stay relevant, and how you can use technology as a powerful tool in your career. Expect practical examples, inspiring discussions and a fresh perspective on your role as a tax practitioner in an era of rapid technological change.

This workshop will be conducted by Philip Rulo

  • In this hands-on workshop, participants will discover the power of AI to automatically extract structured information and data from tax documents. This allows the AI model not only to quickly smartly classify large volumes of contracts, correspondence and financial data, but also to use the extracted information to complete standard forms, and generate draft texts for tax advice. Suitable for tax and finance professionals who want to digitize their work processes and do so securely locally without uploading sensitive documents to a cloud service. No AI prior knowledge required.

This workshop will be conducted by Arnoud Wils - Research Software Engineer at Maastricht University

  • AI tools for tax consulting are popping up like mushrooms. But the right start is not choosing a tool - it starts with getting your challenges in focus.

In this interactive workshop, you will assume the role of your organization's AI committee. Together you will identify the biggest bottlenecks in tax practice, determine where AI can make a truly measurable impact and formulate success criteria.

Through a structured exercise, you will design the "problem" part of an AI strategy, present your findings, and learn from other participants' approaches. Each participant will go home with a concrete Tax AI Canvas: a practical framework to shape, test and drive AI initiatives in their own organization. This will enable you to set up pilots that are not only innovative, but also add sustainable value to your advisory practice.

This workshop will be conducted by Koen Aarns - SDU

  • AI is rapidly transforming taxation. But how do you ensure that your organization effectively uses AI technology? Does your organization want to "do something" with AI, but is not clear how and where to start? What steps can be taken and what decisions need to be made? This workshop, led by The Innovative Lawyer, will focus on the answers to these questions.

During the workshop, the speakers cover:

    • Challenges and opportunities of AI

    • What an AI strategy entails

    • Why a thoughtful AI strategy is crucial in the current era

    • The core components of an effective AI strategy

    • Analyzing opportunities and risks of AI tools

    • The first steps to your own AI strategy

    • Best practices for responsible AI implementation

This workshop is provided by Precious Chocolaad - The Innovative Lawyer

  • This workshop will discuss the legal aspects of using AI within tax services. As AI is increasingly used to support day-to-day operations, it is crucial that tax professionals are aware of the rules surrounding privacy, data protection and security. What is allowed and what is not? Where are the risks? And how do you ensure that your organization is compliant?

During this interactive session, you will get answers to frequently asked questions, such as:

    • How do I stay within the frameworks of the AVG and AI-Act when using AI?

    • What documentation and agreements are needed to be compliant?

    • Do I need to get permission from my clients when I want to use AI?

    • How do I fulfill my transparency obligation?

    • What does ISO certification mean in the context of security and AI?

    • Can I use American providers?

The workshop is specially designed for tax professionals, with plenty of room for questions, practical examples and concrete tools that you can immediately apply within your own organization.

This workshop will be conducted by:

    Lisa Molenaars - Considerati

  • Vibe coding is a revolutionary approach where you build software by simply describing what you want in plain language, and AI generates the code for you. In this workshop, you'll learn how, as a tax professional, you can use AI tools to create practical day-to-day applications without writing a line of code.

This workshop will be conducted by:

    Johan Gorter - AFAS

Menno van Dongen - Forvis Mazars

  • This session focuses on the latest generation of AI applications: agents. We will show live how agents independently perform complex tasks, from collecting and combining information to making decisions. To fully understand this, we will compare agents with traditional LLM prompts and custom GPTs. This makes it clear where the real added value of agents lies, and in which situations a simple LLM response or a custom GPT is just enough.

This workshop will be conducted by:

    Roderick Lucas

  • During this interactive workshop, we will discuss how various classical and contemporary philosophers would look at Artificial Intelligence and society and what this means for our own position and taxation. The workshop provides an essential exploration for tax practitioners who want to understand what the use of AI really means for their field. What would Plato or Kant say if they had been in the space? No prior knowledge of philosophy or AI is required.

This workshop will be conducted by:
