About this course
AI is often presented as a panacea, but the reality is more nuanced. For lawyers, it is not about technology in the abstract, but about practical applications that make legal work smarter and more efficient. Many professionals want to deploy AI but are unsure where to start. This course offers just that starting point.
We start with a clear introduction: what AI is, how to use it safely and responsibly as a lawyer, and what types of AI tools exist. In doing so, we pay explicit attention to the careful handling of personal data and confidential information, so that you know where the boundaries are.
Because there are now hundreds of AI tools available, we show you how to keep an overview using the AI Legal Tech Map. This map highlights the most important categories - from broad language models like ChatGPT to specialized solutions for legal research, document analysis and contract management. This will help you discover which categories are relevant to your practice and prevent you from getting lost in the plethora of new AI solutions.
We then demonstrate at least two general tools as well as at least two specialized tools for legal research. For each course session, we select the most appropriate applications based on the background of the participants so that the content is as relevant as possible. You will see how these tools work, what they can do and when they are valuable in your practice.
Then we focus on ChatGPT: how to use it efficiently in your daily work and how to build your own AI assistants within ChatGPT that ease your tasks.
During the course you will work with exercises and case studies, so that you can try out the tools shown for yourself and immediately experience how they support your work process. Afterwards, you will have a clear understanding of the possibilities and limitations of AI for lawyers - and you will be able to start using it immediately.
